Preparation before sample installation:
Clean the sample (cleaning the sample helps to improve the adhesion between the sample and the inlay material. Use acetone or alcohol to clean the sample, and if conditions permit, use ultrasound to clean the sample. Remember to wipe the sample dry after cleaning);
Adjust the size of the sample according to the size of the embedded cylinder (approximately 3-5mm from the cylinder wall);
Adjust the height of the sample (the height of the embedded sample can reach about 20mm);
Choose a better thermal inlay resin
The process of hot embedding:
Hot inlay - stainless steel clip
When performing hot embedding, metal fixing clips can be used to support small samples;
Hot inlay - inlay tube
Place the dry and tidy sample on the inlay cylinder of the hot inlay machine, and then add an appropriate amount of resin. When inlaying the sample, please maintain a temperature of about 180 ℃ and a pressure of about 250 bar
Selection of hot embedding resin:
-PhenoPowder phenolic resin, black/red, used for low hardness materials
-EpoPowder G epoxy resin (particles), black, used for high hardness materials, high edge protection, and easier cleaning
-EpoPowder F epoxy resin (powder), black, used for high hardness materials, more suitable for high edge protection of complex geometric shapes
-TransPowder acrylic resin, transparent, for visible samples
-CopperPowder copper conductive filler for SEM and TEM analysis, without analyzing copper
-GraphPowder carbon conductive filler for SEM and TEM analysis without analyzing carbon
