1. In metallography, automatic image analysis usually refers to the digital quantitative evaluation of microstructure images.
The quantitative measurement mainly uses the representative length, width, area and factors used to evaluate the phase characteristics of the material (such as grain size, impurities, layer and stage or other components).
Image digitization can process a large amount of data and provide the basis for correct statistics.
2. Software automation
Software automation can eliminate the time consumed by manual identification, calculation or comparison. This can facilitate research in two ways:

Relatively simple and single function software&mdash& Mdash; Optimized for performing one or more standardized analyses
3. How to perform automatic image analysis
In order to use automatic image analysis to measure the structural features at the micro level, six main process steps need to be carried out, and the relevant current standards should be met
Sample selection: select a representative sample with relevant information
Sample preparation: ensure that the prepared surface is free of defects, otherwise it will interfere with the automatic image analysis system.
Image lighting and filtering: enhance contrast and ensure correct focus
Image Digitization: collect real-time analog images and convert them into digital images
Image processing: eliminate interference information, that is, use software filters to improve image quality, such as enhancing contrast
Image measurement (quantification, calculation and results): output from the complete analysis process
