1. Requirements for Metallographic Preparation: the selected sample must be representative; Retain all structural features; The surface is free of scratches and deformation; No external impurities are introduced into the sample surface; The sample surface is flat and reflective.
2. Sample preparation steps: cutting; Mosaic; Grinding and polishing
3. Precautions during cutting: avoid sample burning (cut at a slower speed and fully water-cooled); Select the appropriate cutting disc (resin bonded grinding wheel cutting blade); Select the appropriate cutting area; Clean the sample with acetone after cutting.
Improper cutting method due to mechanical deformation will cause thermal damage (as shown in the following figure)

4. Precautions for hot mosaic: select small samples; Avoid embedding samples of different materials together; Oil free samples (must be cleaned before embedding); Choose hot mosaic powder with high hardness

5. Polishing: suitable sample table; Rough grinding; Fine grinding; Polishing (opening pores); Pay attention to cleaning samples in different polishing steps;
6. Easy mistakes in polishing:
1) Polishing time is too short; Wrong pore structure; High density; Density change; Cracks cannot be seen
2) Polishing time is too long; Wrong pore structure; Large and round pores; Pull out particles
